Dr Nick Maxwell

Principal Dentist

Nick graduated from London’s King’s College in 1998 and quickly worked his way up to the position of lead clinician. After 14 years working in predominantly private practice, he decided to buy his own practice and set up St Mary’s.

Nick oversees a team of general dentists and visiting professionals who offer a range of treatments and specialist services including oral surgery, implants, endodontics, periodontics and orthodontics.

With a special interest in restorative and aesthetic dentistry, Nick completed an Msc at Manchester University. He has also completed further professional studies in aesthetics under the mentorship of Paul Tipton, and in placing and restoring implants.

Nick is qualified to use IV and RA sedation, and techniques such as Wand, a pain-free numbing system, to help support nervous patients. Combining his friendly and positive chairside manner, he aims to put patients at ease and work with them to eventually undergoing treatment without sedation.

Currently Nick is doing PG diploma in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedic.

Outside of the practice he enjoys scuba diving and underwater photography, and has completed a string of personal challenges, including the Thames Path Challenge, diving with sharks and a skydive, to raise money for charity.

Dr Sandra Forde

Dentist

Sandra is an experienced dentist in a wide range of dental procedures, having qualified in 1997 from Guy’s and St.Thomas’s dental school, where she won multiple awards as a student. She has continued to expand and maintain her knowledge and enjoys helping her patients through their dental journey with kindness and empathy for their dental needs.

Sandra enjoys complete dental makeovers, including tooth straightening, whitening, bonding and porcelain work, if necessary. Still, she is equally at home with nervous patients who need that little extra time and care. Sandra also enjoys facial aesthetics and how the facial aesthetics, both soft tissue and underlying structures, change over the years.

Sandra has a loyal patient base, reflected in her dental and communication skills. Apart from her passion for dentistry, Sandra loves to keep fit and is an avid Crossfitter who loves to take on the odd extra fitness challenge to keep things fresh.

Sandra has two grown-up children, a couple of cats, a garden she enjoys pottering about, and a kitchen in which she loves cooking.

Dr Sylvia Kraftt

Dentist

With over 15 years of experience as a general dentist in both Germany and the UK, Sylvia is known for her calm, patient-centred approach and dedication to clinical excellence. Her work with charitable dental organisations in the UK and the United States reflects her strong commitment to accessible, compassionate care.

Sylvia focuses on minimally invasive, preventative dentistry, using the latest techniques to ensure every visit is both comfortable and effective. She’s passionate about creating a positive experience for each patient, and those visiting the practice for the first time can expect the same friendly, welcoming atmosphere we’re known for—paired with her highly personalised care.

Mr Riz Deen

Practice Manager

Having worked in diverse organisations, mainly customer-focused and management roles, has enabled Riz to gain many valuable skills which allows the practice to run efficiently. His meticulous standards and ability to deal with patients ensure the highest level of care is met. Riz is a big fan of cars and spending time diving in various locations around the world.

Madalyne Tucker

Dental Hygienist

Madalyne is a highly experienced dental therapist with over thirty years in the dental profession, both in the UK and internationally. She qualified from Queen Mary University, where she also was a dental educator, teaching dental hygiene and therapy students. With her extensive knowledge and hands-on experience, Madalyne brings a wealth of expertise to her practice.

Passionate about holistic dental care, Madalyne believes in the power of education to promote long-term health. She strives to create a friendly, relaxed environment where patients are empowered to take control of their oral health through informed choices. Her commitment to excellence extends beyond her clinic, as she volunteers her time and skills in Africa, Panama, and the UK, providing much-needed care to underserved communities.

When she’s not working, you can find Maddie embracing nature—whether it’s in the sea or scaling a mountain, her love for the outdoors is a constant source of inspiration.

Sara Burden

Dental Hygienist

Sara qualified from Birmingham Dental School in 1990 and brings over 30 years of expertise in dental hygiene, spanning general practice, specialist care, and research. Known for her gentle, thorough approach, she has a natural ability to put patients at ease, ensuring a comfortable and reassuring experience.

With a keen interest in acute gum conditions and the connection between nutrition and gum health, Sara takes a holistic approach to oral care. She is passionate about prevention and often integrates practical dietary advice into her hygiene appointments, helping patients achieve long-term oral health.

Sara has also contributed to dental research and remains committed to staying at the forefront of periodontal care through regular professional development.

Outside of work, she enjoys keeping fit, cooking, and spending time in the countryside. With two grown-up children, she values the balance between family life and her dedication to helping patients maintain healthier smiles.

Joanna Dobson

Practice Manager

Joanna brings over 30 years of experience in finance and business operations, including 19 years at Lloyds Bank specialising in business banking. For the past 15 years, she has served as a Finance and Operations Director, developing expertise in strategic planning, operational efficiency, and financial management.

In addition to her ongoing role, Joanna now supports St Mary’s as a part-time Practice Manager, working closely with the dental team two days a week. She focuses on financial oversight, compliance, and operational support, ensuring a smooth, welcoming experience for patients and staff alike.

Outside of work, Joanna enjoys swimming, tennis, and travelling.  A natural people person, she thrives on building strong relationships and bringing energy and enthusiasm to everything she does—both professionally and personally.

Gillian Bentley

Lead Nurse

Gillian has been with St Mary’s House Dental Care now for 25 years. She is a true asset to the practice whose meticulous standards and attention to detail are exemplary. Her kind and gentle manner is very much appreciated by our patients. GIllian is an avid swimmer and really enjoys socialising.

Sophia Ball

Dental Nurse & Receptionist

Sophia joined us in June 2018 relocating to Shoreham from Emsworth, she came to us with 10 years dental experience she studied for a Diploma in Dental Nursing in 2013, at Portsmouth Highbury College and has both NHS and private practice experience. Sophia enjoys all the variety that dental nursing offers and being part of busy team helping to care for our many patients. She’s developed a keen interest in facial aesthetics and the difference they can make to people’s lives.

Faye Robinson

Dental Nurse

With over 30 years of experience as a dental nurse, I still find joy in every aspect of my role. For the past three years, I’ve been proud to be part of the fantastic team at St Mary’s House, where collaboration and patient care are at the heart of everything we do.

Outside of work, I love spending quality time with my husband, our 13-year-old son, and friends. Whether it’s walking, swimming, or enjoying holidays together, I cherish the moments that keep us active and connected.

Molly Pearce

Dental Nurse

Molly is a dedicated dental nurse with five years of experience in the field. She takes great pride in assisting the dentist to provide patients through their dental journeys, ensuring they feel comfortable and well-informed throughout their treatments. With a keen interest in smile makeovers, Molly enjoys helping patients achieve their desired aesthetic outcomes, enhancing both their smiles and their confidence.

Outside of her professional life, Molly enjoys spending quality time with friends, often going out for meals and exploring new eateries. She also cherishes walks with her dog, embracing the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and unwind.

Molly is a valuable member of the St Mary’s House Dental Care team, bringing both expertise and a compassionate approach to patient care.

Marianne Fawbert

Receptionist

With over 20 years of experience in both reception and dental nursing, Marianne brings a wealth of knowledge to the team, particularly in oral surgery under sedation. She has a calm, reassuring manner and a genuine talent for helping nervous patients feel at ease throughout their visit.

After stepping away from dentistry to raise her family—a chapter she thoroughly enjoyed—Marianne joined the St Mary’s team in 2024 as part of our reception team. She’s proud to be part of a practice that shares her passion for patient care and teamwork.

Outside the clinic, Marianne enjoys swimming, cycling, and countryside walks with her family.
